There is a new sports craze that is gaining traction across the country called Footgolf.

Instead of using clubs and a small white ball, like golf, you use your legs and a soccer ball to get to the hole in the fewest shots possible.

According to footgolf.us, the game started in 2008 in the Netherlands with a nine hole course set up on a golf course. Other countries followed suit, including the United States which founded the American Footgolf League in 2011.

There are now 500 courses that are certified by the American Footgolf League including Woodland Hills Golf Course in Nacogdoches. If you want to play, it is the only place to do it, right now, in East Texas.

"Footgolf is for everybody," Woodland Hills Golf Course owner Doug Datin told KETK. "Golf is a very hard sport. Footgolf, if you have a foot and you can kick, you can come out and you can play footgolf. So it is for anywhere from the young kids all the way up to the senior citizens and anywhere in between can come out and play footgolf."

They will be hosting a tournament this weekend to fund improvements to the Clint Dempsey Soccer Complex.
