This week's KNUE "Artist Spotlight" is Thomas Rhett. Thomas is the son of a 1990s country star Rhett Atkins. For those of us who were around in the early '90s, we remember "Don't Get Me Started" and "That Ain't My Truck."

Some of you guys may remember seeing Thomas Rhett at KNUE's Christmas show with Brantley Gilbert a couple of years ago. Thomas put on on terrific show. When I met Thomas, I told him I played his dad's music all through the '90s on KNUE. He told me, "Thank you! It paid for my college." Pretty nice kid.

Thomas Rhett  thought that he would do something with his life, just not music. He thought about a career in media, business, even sports medicine. But he ended up doing what he was best at -- a singer/songwriter. At only 22 years old, Thomas has had huge success with his writing and performing, too.

When I was researching Thomas, I learned that he even wrote a song on Jason Aldean's "My Kinda Party" double platinum album, "I Ain't Ready To Quit." Yes, I listened to it, and yes, it's good! He also penned Jason Aldean's latest hit, "1994."

Thomas seems to have inherited a lot from his dad, Rhett. Both are brilliant songwriters and artists. Although Thomas is quick to point out that his musical style differs from his dad. Thomas admits he is more rock and "in your face."

Whatever it is, it works. Listen for Thomas Rhett's latest hit, "It Goes Like This," on KNUE.
