Today is Ladies Day at UT Tyler Suddenlink Patriot Million Dollar Hole in One [VIDEO]

This afternoon qualifying will begin at 4 pm at UT Tyler during the UT Tyler Suddenlink Patriot Million Dollar Hole in One with extra incentives for lady golfers.

Lady golfers will qualify in addition to the guys each shift this afternoon, and will be given ten additional shots for every 25 purchased today from 4-8 pm.

Saturday the event began with nine qualifying to hit for $1,000,000 on Sunday on May 17, at Hollytree Country Club. The first qualifier of the day was Michael Gilbert of Big Sandy with a distance of 12.5 inches from the pin. Second to qualify was Michael Cearley of Troup at 15 inches. This will be Michael's 20th opportunity to hit in the Finals.

During the Saturday Night Shoot Out, a qualifier was taken each hour from 7-11pm. Qualifying at this time were, Jimmy Ray Sawyer of Kilgore at 32 inches, Walter Treat of Tyler at 30 inches, Jeff Reeves of Tyler at 24 inches and Mike Cearley of Troup with 25 inches.

Mike Cearley is the father of Michael who qualified earlier that afternoon, and has now qualified 28 years in a row to hit for the million dollar prize. Mr. Cearley now has a UT Tyler scholarship given in his honor for his generous support of the even over it's lifetime.

In addition to public hitting lanes, Saturday night corporate lanes were attended by sponsor groups from Suddenlink, Dakota's and R&K Distributors, Inc. One person from each lane qualified, Suddenlink was Antonio Trejo III of Lindale, Dakot's qualifier was Allen Jones of Tyler, and for R&K Distributors, Inc., Ryan Alquist will hit on Sunday.

Each lane was invited to participate in a competition for a Yeti 45 cooler. After each participant completed his three shots, Matthew Crouch of Tyler was determined as the closest distance to the pin, and winner of the inaugural Yeti Shoot Out.
