Tyler Independent School District board has voted to put a $160.5 million bond proposal before voters in May.

The measure calls for three new middle schools, a career and technology center and renovating Rice and Dixie elementary schools.

The unanimous decision voted on Thursday night was met with some opposition before the vote.

Supporters of the proposal were also rallying outside the Plyler Complex building.

The last Tyler school bond issue failed in 2010.
