Officers have in custody a woman accused of pretending to be a Tyler Police officer on at least two different occasions.

Investigators have identified and arrested Jennifer Louise Cowser, 39 of Tyler for Impersonating a Public Servant.  She is charged with two counts of impersonating a Public Servant - a 3rd degree felony.

Cowser is accused of stealing a man’s wallet at the D&N Grocery on W. Bow Street on Sunday, October 7, 2012.  The suspect asked for 10 dollars and when she was told no she presented a badge and identified herself as a police officer.  The suspect took the victim’s wallet out of his pants and then left in a small grey Nissan car.

On October 14th, Cowser is accused of impersonating a police officer at a car wash at 5030 Highway 31 West.

The victim stated that a white female approached him as he was parked near the car vacuums.

 

She presented a badge that led him to believe that she was a police officer.  She informed him that she was going to search his car or he was going to be arrested.  After searching his car, she stole a few unknown items from him.  She then left in a dark colored compact vehicle.

Cowser is jailed on a $150,000 bond for each charge.  Investigators will be securing additional charges against Cowser.
