Tyler Public Library Will Hold A Halloween Costume Exchange
Driving down Broadway in Tyler a couple of weeks ago I noticed that the Spirit Halloween store was open for the upcoming haunting season and without a doubt I've been in there looking around and have bought my fair share of costumes not only for myself but for my daughter too! But what do we do with the costumes that our kids have outgrown and or have worn only one time because they wanted to be something different for the next year? One answer would be the Halloween Costume Exchange at the Tyler Public Library.
Thinking about it, its a great way to recycle a gently used Halloween costume and get a new or different one at the fraction of the cost of a new one. From September 15th to October 10th the Tyler Public Library will be accepting clean, gently used Halloween costumes for the exchange. When you drop off a costume for the exchange, you'll receive a ticket that will allow you to come back on exchange day and shop for a new costume for your child.
The exchange event will be held at the Tyler Public Library from 1p - 5p on Saturday, October 12th. Ticket holders will be able to shop from 1p - 3p and then open up to the public from 3p - 5p. Non-ticket holders will be asked to provide a $2 donation to the Friends of the Tyler Public Library for participating in the event.
Youth Services Director Linda Gray says,
We are hoping to help families find an affordable, green way to get a different costume for this fun time of year. The costume exchange kicks off our Halloween programs which include Dressed to Read, Trick or Treat the Library, and a special Halloween story time. We want all children to have a safe and fun Halloween.”
You can even donate costumes to the library, whether new or gently used and not participate in the exchange event. The Tyler Public Library is located downtown at 201 S. College Ave. and can be contacted at 903.593.7323 for more information.
