One of Tyler's most iconic restaurants has had its shares of ups and downs in the past few years, and it looks like it's now in another slump.

The current owners announced via Facebook on Friday (August 17) that they closed the main restaurant, effective immediately. This is quite sad as it is right across from Tyler Junior College, and classes are set to start up soon.

This is the second time the restaurant closed within the past few years. It originally closed in August 2016 after 45 years in operation. Then in early 2017, news broke that the favorite restaurant was going to reopen.

Owners Lindsey and Michael and Harrison teamed up with friends, Ashely and John Feldman, and reopened the restaurant, bringing the dogs back with the family recipes Tylerites knew and loved.

At that time Lindsey Harrison told the Tyler Morning Telegraph, "What I really remember is the chili cheese dogs ,” she said. “And we have the chili recipe. We’ll be bringing back the old favorites, and adding some new things as well. We’ll be bringing in new varieties."

There is a bit of a silver lining, however. The owners are looking for someone to take over the restaurant and stated in the post the the Wienie wagon is still available to rent.

I was a regular there while attending TJC, and hope another family will take over soon so we can continue to enjoy their food for generations to come.
