With only a few weeks left before the summer pool season ends and the kids go back to school, news comes that the Woldert pool in Tyler will be closing earlier than usual. The Tyler Parks and Recreation Department issued a statement saying they'd be closing Woldert pool for the season on Monday, July 25th, but the neighboring splash pad would remain open.

The department said the pool opened in the 1950's and was inspected by a third party inspector, they found some infrastructure issues with the pool. The City of Tyler will be looking for options for the aging pool's future. They are researching for grants or other funding opportunities to improve, replace or repurpose the structure for another use.

In the absence of Woldert pool, Fun Forest pool is the closest option and will remain open through August 13th. Fun Forest is located at 900 N. Glenwood Blvd. and is open the following hours:

  • Closed on Sundays and Mondays
  • Tuesdays: Free swim from 1 to 6 p.m.; Lap swim from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: Free swim from 1 to 6 p.m.
  • Thursdays: Free swim from 1 to 6 p.m.; Lap swim from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Fridays and Saturdays: Free swim from 1 to 7 p.m.

Other splash and spray grounds in Tyler are located at Bergfeld Park and Faulkner Park.
