Victoria Arlen slipped into a three-year coma after experiencing flu-like symptoms at age 11. When she awoke, she was paralyzed from the waist down because of an autoimmune disorder that attacks the nerves in the spine. Victoria is now 18 years old and is in a wheel chair, but yet she still swims. Being in the swimming pool Victoria found strength. In fact she found so much strength she has won four medals, including gold and broke her own record in one event at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.

Awesome right? Just this week the International Paralympic Committee has disqualified Victoria from the Paralympic Swimming World Championships in Montreal after ruling that her condition is not permanent. Yes, you read correctly.

Here is what Victorias' reaction was to this news according to ABCNews.com;

"I am keeping my head held high and I am not bitter, discouraged or angry against them," said Arlen, who's in California clearing her head while visiting with her mother and boyfriend after the colossal disappointment.

"It is what it is," she told ABCNews.com. "There's not much I can do right now. It's in the hands of higher powered people."

I really couldn't believe this story when I read it. I had to read it several times before it sank in. Are they saying she can't compete because she isn't paralyzed enough? Are we kiddin'!? I could rant and rave, but there is no point, this is the most outrageous and unacceptable situation I have ever heard.
