One of the best bands to emerge from south of the Mason Dixon Line and west of the Great Mississippi is making its way back to the Rose City this week, and you're gonna regret it if you're not there with me.

Uncle Lucius, one of the masterful bands in the art of modern Texas music, are putting on a hoedown Friday at the all-new Stanley's Famous Pit Bar-B-Q in Tyler in what will most assuredly be one of the great shows in East Texas in 2013.

This great group of guys from Austin stopped by our studios a few weeks back to debut their new single, "Keep the Wolves Away," and play for a few of our awesome listeners.

Local band The Bigsby's will take the stage first at Stanley's on Friday, and Uncle Lucius will follow about 9:30 p.m. The cover is $10 at the door, and let's just say this: you're gonna want to get there early.

In the meantime, here are my top five Uncle Lucius tunes (in no particular order):

  • 'Liquor Store'

  • 'Keep the Wolves Away'

  • 'Everybody Got Soul'

  • 'Pocket Full of Misery'

  • 'A Million Ways'
