Nobody really wants to work on their birthday, but if you’re going to do it, you might as well do it on stage in front of thousands of screaming fans — and with your new wife leading everyone in a birthday sing-along in your honor.

That’s just what happened to Blake Shelton last Saturday, when he celebrated his 35th birthday by opening for Brad Paisley — and was surprised during his set by the appearance of Mrs. Shelton, a.k.a. country star Miranda Lambert, who took the stage for a rendition of Joan Jett’s ‘I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll’ before asking the crowd “to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to my husband.”

Shelton’s sixth full-length studio album, titled ‘Red River Blue,’ is scheduled for a July 12 release. It comes on the heels of his number one 2010 EP ‘All About Tonight,’ and is preceded by the number one single ‘Honey Bee.’ He’ll be on the road for a run of solo dates throughout July, August, and September.
