Can you say fried like an egg?! That’s pretty much what happened Monday afternoon a little after 1 p.m. As the storms moved through East Texas, lightning struck KNUE!

It sounded like a bomb, seriously!

The fire department arrived in no time and pretty much told us what we already suspected, that the station was hit by lightning and that it looked like most of our equipment was “fried!” The smell was awful and we just sat in the dark looking at each other. We had no phones, Internet or email and no music on the radio.

That’s where the awesome KNUE engineers come in the picture, they quickly got to work trying to get my baby, KNUE, back on the air. Nine hours later we were back on the air – but =barely hanging on.

We’ve gotten tons of phone calls. I feel so sorry for our receptionist, Leslie. But she has been a trooper and just smiles.  As the equipment slowly gets delivered to the station, you may hear KNUE go “in and out” but just know that is progress baby!

We will resume the KNUE  Super 1 Foods ‘Cash and Gas Secret Sound’ contest at 10:55 a.m. on Monday, April 9. I just wanted to personally thank you, our listeners, for your kind words, patience and loyalty to your station – KNUE! It means so much to me that you guys love KNUE as much as I do!

You guys are the BEST.
