Earlier this month a little girl's dream came true at the 67th annual Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo. Layla Evetts is 6-years-old, a big Aaron Watson fan, and Layla is battling terminal brain cancer.

KWTX news anchor Julie Hays has known Watson since they attended Abilene Christian University together, so after she learned Layla's story, she reached out to her old college pal, who answered the call, and so much more.

In a Facebook post Hays wrote, "When Layla’s dad reached out to me about Layla’s favorite artist being Aaron, he had no idea he was a friend of mine. While Aaron says in the now viral story that this was all my idea, that is definitely not true. When I called him, I was hoping for a meet and greet or for Layla to get a quick picture with him. I should have known better. His response in a voice text is now forever saved on my phone. He told me “let’s go all out, let’s have a party, get some couches and food. Anything for this little girl.” He cried as he left me the initial message and I knew her story hit way too close to home for him. I knew he would go all out. Aaron offered me his credit card. He wanted to pay for it all, no questions asked."
