Following the recent movie theater shootings in Lafayette, La., and Nashville, a study has revealed that some moviegoers are willing to pick up the tab on an already high movie ticket for additional security measures to be added at theaters.

The added security measures could include armed guards in theaters in addition to the installation of metal detectors in the entrances. According to the results of a new poll from consumer research firm C4, 48 percent of respondents said they wouldn't mind an extra dollar being added to the ticket price to hire and purchase additional security.

But, when asked if they would support an increase of $2, only 23% supported the measure. C4's executive vice president of consumer insights Ben Spergel told Variety:

Moviegoers are telling us that they’re starting to see the value of security. Hopefully they’re beginning to value it the same amount that they value IMAX or 3D, where they recognize that you have to pay more for a better experience. You may also have to pay more for a safer experience.”

Thankfully there hasn't been anything this violent happen in our area. But I'd like to know what you think.
