The Best Taco Joint in Texas in 2024

Here’s another Texas taco spot to add to your bucket list. 

The Lone Star State is known for great food. And when it comes to tacos, there is no shortage of places to get great ones. 

And I don’t care what anybody says, you can great tacos across the entire state. But I will say that some of the best tacos I’ve ever had were down south in the Hill Country. My guess is that many Texans would agree with that.

So, I fully expected to see a taco joint in that neck of the woods to be named the best spot in Texas in 2024, according to Yelp. 

Of course, you can get great tacos at a fine, fancy restaurant. But for my money, the best comes from little, lesser-known hole-in-the-wall joints. Call me a foodie if you want, but I love it when I come across great food that’s off the beaten path. 

I typically visit Austin once or twice a year. And I have to admit the food choices in our state capital can be overwhelming. There are so many places that I have yet to try. 

One place I will be sure to try the next time I’m down that way is Cuantos Tacos, the best place to get tacos in the entire state. Here’s what Yelp Elite Abida H. had to say about them: 

Often debated to be the #1 best taco in the city, these are small street tacos [like] you would find in Mexico City. They’re simple, juicy, and devoured in 2–3 bites each! My favorite is the suadero taco (brisket, onion, and cilantro), but it only makes sense that you try them all.
