SHREVEPORT, LA - I have been asking a lot of people this week if they believe in Bigfoot and almost everyone says "no." Some say they would like to believe he exists, but there is just no definitive proof and there should be after all this time.
But that opinion does not stop folks from reporting sightings of Bigfoot all across the country.

We've heard about sightings from all over northeast Texas. But there have been several Bigfoot sightings reported in Louisiana.

The most recent sighting in Louisiana happened in Natchitoches Parish in June of 2023. A local resident reported seeing a Bigfoot-like creature crossing the road during broad daylight about 8 miles west of Natchitoches.

In July of 2018 two witnesses reported seeing Bigfoot crossing a road in Sabine Parish on Hwy 175 between Many and Pleasant Hill.
And there was another sighting in the past 7 years in Grant Parish. A homeowner describes ongoing activity from a swamp just outside of Colfax.

There's been one reported sighting of Bigfoot in Caddo Parish. This happened in November 1987. The report says the creature walked directly towards witness.

How did the Bigfoot legend begin?

The story of Bigfoot kicked into high gear in 1958, according to History.com, when a letter about the discovery of some large footprints was published along with a journalist's response in the Humboldt Times in California.
This began the decades long fascination about what's described as a giant hairy ape-man hiding out in the woods across America.

This started an effort by many people to try to find him and document the sightings. Reports have poured in from all parts of the United States from Maine to California.
