Willie Nelson has canceled another of his scheduled live appearances, and fans turned to social media to share plenty of thoughts, from concerns and well wishes to angry complaints.

What New Shows Will Willie Nelson Miss?

The 91-year-old country legend will not appear at the Outlaw Music Festival Tour stop slated for Tuesday night (July 2) in Mansfield, Mass., according to a new post to his social media midday Tuesday. However, the post goes on to assure fans that Nelson will be on hand for the show scheduled for Camden, N.J., on July 4, marking his annual 4th of July Picnic.

The post reads as follows:

Willie Nelson is looking forward to seeing everyone in Camden on July 4. He will not be performing in Mansfield today.

Bob Dylan, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, and Celisse will perform as scheduled. In addition, Lukas Nelson and Family, along with some special guests, will once again play his own set that will include Willie's classics and other songs.

"Get well soon, Willie," one fan writes on Instagram, while another chimes in, "Sending all the positive and healing vibes."

"On the road again!" another user exclaims, while one angry fan posts, "Well. That f--king sucks. Only reason I bought tickets."

Why Has Willie Nelson Been Canceling Shows?

  • Nelson first revealed that an unspecified health issue would keep him from joining the opening shows of the tour on June 21.
  • He's since canceled several more appearances.

Nelson has had emphysema for years, and he even quit smoking marijuana in 2019. Breathing issues have forced him to cancel shows here and there over the last decade, but overall, he's maintained a remarkable output of both live shows and new music.

The country icon released his most recent album, The Border, on March 31, 2024. The project marked his 152nd album, according to a press release from Legacy Recordings.

According to Nelson's official tour schedule, the Outlaw Music Festival is scheduled to run through Sept. 20, when it wraps up with a show in Gilford, N.H. John Mellencamp, Billy Strings, Brittney Spencer and Southern Avenue are also on the bill for various shows.
