While it's mostly been drama-free, the Bexar County sheriff is reminding folks to remain calm while voting after a man was arrested at a polling location.

A 63-year-old man was arrested late last week after he allegedly punched a poll worker at an early voting site in San Antonio, Texas after the worker asked him to take off his “Trump” baseball cap.

The red Trump hat, or the Make America Great Again Hat, is the iconic hat that many Trump supporters wear; however, it's important to note that wearing a candidate’s merchandise, such as shirts, hats, or buttons, at a polling center is considered electioneering, and against the law in Texas.

The man initially complied, cast his ballot, and then put his hat back on. When he was informed that it was still illegal to wear political items inside a polling place, Jesse Lutzenberger allegedly turned and “threw several punches right at the face” of the 69-year-old poll worker as he was being escorted out.

Lutzenberger was booked into jail on charges of injury to an elderly person. Fortunately, the election worker didn't sustain any life-threatening injuries and was immediately treated by medical personnel. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar urged citizens:

Nothing is worth going to jail for.

Since polling places are designated as nonpartisan spaces, showing visible support for a specific candidate or party near polling stations can be considered a form of indirect campaigning, which is usually regulated to ensure fairness. Twenty-one states have laws prohibiting people from wearing campaign apparel in or near polling places.

Celebrities who vowed to leave the United States after the election

Rumors are flying that Bruce Springsteen has vowed to leave the country if Donald Trump wins the 2024 election. He didn’t say it.

But false promises of leaving the country if a celebrity didn’t get their way has been a real thing and not always said in jest.

Here’s a list of famous people who promised to leave the country if Trump were elected. I hope you didn't bet money on them leaving since none did.
