You'd think you'd only find makeup stores in the big cities, but that's not the case in Texas. While yes you CAN find them in cities like Dallas or Houston. Those aren't the only places you can find a Prada store, however. Just a road trip to Marfa you'll find the most interesting spot for a Prada store...

This is where you'll find the Texas Marfa Prada store

While driving along U.S. Highway 90 in Jeff Davis County, there's a chance you might find the Prada Store in Marfa, Texas (although Google Maps says "Valentine, Texas").

So why is there a Prada store in the middle of the Texas desert?

In the name of art...no seriously. That's EXACTLY why. The art duo from Scandinavia, Elmgreen & Dragset, build a fake Prada store in Marfa as a "pop architectural land art project". The "store" was built in October in 2005 & it took about $120,000 to complete.

In case you're wondering, no those are not real shoes. Sadly the place has been the victim of vandalism in the past (mainly on the rear of the store) but the front of the store has been well maintained.

The store was even featured in Season 30 of The Simpsons when the family decided to take a family road trip through the state of Texas.

Don't worry about the store being lonely in the desert. It has become a tourist attraction for nearly 20 years. Even as recent as May 2024, people still love to visit this one Prada store, which was captured by a Google Maps car.

So next time you're driving through the desert, keep your eyes peeled because in this case, your eyes are NOT playing tricks on you.
