For those of us who live in El Paso, Texas, we know that the city is growing, but did you know that one of our zip codes is one of the most populated in Texas?

The latest estimates from the American County Survey and the Census Bureau have revealed the top most populated zip codes in the country. Two Texas zip codes made the top ten!

But when you factor in just Texas, the survey revealed the top ten most populated zip codes in all of the Lone Star state. I'm sure when you think "most populated" you would figure it would be a city like Dallas or Austin, but I was pleasantly surprised to see some names on the list.

These are the top ten most populated zip codes in the country

El Paso's 79936 zip code not only topped the list of most populated in Texas, it was also number two on the list of the most populated zip codes in the country! 79936 is sandwiched between Chicago's 60629 zip code at number one, and Los Angeles' 90011 zip code coming in at number three.

Now, I don't know much about the other zip codes, but being a resident of El Paso, I can confirm that the 79936 zip code is becoming quite the hot spot! It's part of the fast-growing far east side.

The area that was once just desert and warehouses, has really grown into its own with new restaurants, new shops and lots of younger families taking up residence in 79936.
