Oh, Kacey Musgraves -- what a year it's been for this native East Texan. She ended 2011 having cuts on both Martina McBride’s and Miranda Lambert’s latest albums — the latter “Mama’s Broke Heart” was named one of Rolling Stones “Top 50 Singles of 2011.” But that honor was just a hint of what 2012 would have in store for Musgraves.

She began the year slated as John Mayer's exclusive opening act for his Spring U.S. Tour (the tour was later cancelled due to Mayer's health problems.) In February she made her debut at The Ryman in Nashville, and her set concluded with a standing ovation from the audience.

In March she was named to MSN Music’s Class of 2012: New Artists to Watch. And earlier this month, Kelly Clarkson sang her song "Mama's Broken Heart" on the ABC show "Duets" to an audience of millions.

Then last week Kacey called into Radio Texas, LIVE! because it was announced that she'll be ... wait, this is too huge. Why don't I let her tell you what's happening next in her world? Press play.

Next we talked about the success and accolades of a song she wrote -- a song that hasn't even been released as a single to radio yet, "Mama's Broke Heart." Check it out.

To close it out we talked about Kacey's forthcoming debut album. With it, yet another surprise from the Mineola gal, you'll never guess what she's doing with it, check it out. You can also hear "Get Outta My Yard."
