When "Squelch," the next project from Jason Boland and the Stragglers, releases on Oct. 9, it'll be the eighth studio album from the legendary Red Dirt band in just under 16 years (in addition to two live albums).
It has been several weeks since this year's Memorial Day Weekend floods ravaged the small town of Wimberley, Texas, but the Texas/Red Dirt music scene hasn't forgotten about those Central Texas families who are still trying to rebuild their community.
It's West Texas' biggest Texas and Red Dirt music festival, and for those of us who have come to expect Crude Fest to bring out all the biggest stars and hottest up-and-coming acts, 2015 will not disappoint.
Due to health issues, Jason Boland's brother-in-law, Charles Whited, is going through a difficult time. To help out his brother, Boland, has teamed up with a few friends to raise money by selling a special guitar, "The Fish Guitar."
Jason Boland was one of the guys that introduced me to the Texas, Red Dirt scene. He along with stalwarts named Pat, Charlie, Ragweed, Cory and Robert Earl really made it easy for me, a transplanted Texan, to fall in love with this music.
