East Texas is full of talented people, especially country singers. Think about it: Neal McCoy, Miranda Lambert, Linda Davis, Ray Price, Lee Ann Womack, J.B and The Moonshine Band, Whiskey Myers, Brandon Rhyder, Curtis Grimes, and Johnny Horton. And that's just scratching the surface.

On September 12th, George Jones turned 80 years young.  The Grand Ol Opry in Nashville hosted a huge birthday party for him. The event featured performances by Joe Diffie, Jamey Johnson, and the Oak Ridge Boys. One of my favorites from the night was when Alan Jackson and Lee Ann Womack got on stage together and sang the classic,  'Golden Ring'. Check out the video after the jump.

It’s been a few years since Lee Ann Womack had an album to promote, but she’s finally ready to get back in the studio and record some new music for her fans. Womack, whose last release was 2008′s Grammy-nominated ‘There’s More Where That Came From,’ announced her return during her appearance at George Jones‘ recent 80th birthday party.
