Teen Who Helps Clean Up After Protests Gets a Car and a College Scholarship [VIDEO]

Antonio Gwynn Jr. surveyed the damage that had been done by rioters in his hometown and got to work. The 18-year-old started cleaning up broken glass and debris from his Buffalo, NY neighborhood about 2 am last Monday (6/1), and when others arrived on the scene the next morning, most of the work had already been done.

Buffalo has been hit with excessive damage from rioters protesting the death of George Floyd.

For his initiative and hard work, the high school senior has been given a car and a full-ride scholarship.

It was a win-win for Matt Block. He'd been contemplating getting rid of his 2004 red, convertible Mustang but couldn't bring himself to sell the car. He'd seen Gwynn asking for car-buying advice on Facebook, so he decided to give the car to Gwynn.

“I couldn't come to grips with selling it and this was a good way for me to get rid of it and know someone that gets it is going to appreciate it,” said Block.

A local insurance agent has sprung for car insurance for a year.

The story gets even better.

After hearing about Gwynn, officials at a local college in Buffalo reached out to him and offered the teen a full scholarship. Gwynn will be attending Medaille College in the fall and he plans to study business. Eventually, he tells WKBW, he would like to open his own cleaning business.

The teen was touched by the news.

“I literally stopped, pulled over, and started crying. So did my great aunt. My little cousin did also,” said Gwynn.

He says he plans to continue paying it forward.
