Today is Opening Day, and it is with a heavy heart for Texas Rangers fans as we gear up for another summer of baseball. Today marks the final Opening Day at The Ballpark in Arlington. Check out Fox Sports’ “The Long Goodbye” to Globe Life Park in Arlington "The Temple" by Mark Ryhner.

A lot of great memories at The Temple, from Kenny Rogers perfect game on July 28, 1994 against the California Angels, to the 2010 World Series; during which the largest crowd to watch a Rangers baseball game gathered on October 30, 2010. 52,419 fans watched Game 3 of the 2010 World Series against the San Francisco Giants.

Today at 3:05 p.m. your Texas Rangers will kick off the 2019 season against the Chicago Cubs, and it will be the final opening day at The Ballpark.

Voters in Arlington approved extending the sales and hotel taxes in November 2016 to fund Globe Life Field, a new ballpark set to be built in the area adjacent to the current ballpark and will open in 2020.
