TxDOT Announces Speed Limit Changes in Nacogdoches County

Motorists that travel Highway 59 north of Nacogdoches to the north of Garrison can expect changes.  The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is preparing to post new lower speed limit signs this week on a portion of US 59 in Nacogdoches County. 

The speed limit will be reduced from 75 miles per hour to 65 miles per hour on US 59 from one-half mile north of US 259 to the Nacogdoches City Limit. Other areas of US 59 will remain at the posted limits.   The change becomes effective once signs are posted.

According to a press release from TxDOT, the change comes after a recent speed zone study of the roadway and will help improve safety through the area.
