Buddy Logan

BUDDY
I got hooked on radio when I was roughly 15, some crazy DJ let me on his show and that was it. After that I spent that last 2 years of high school working, interning and doing random things at KID-FM in Idaho Falls, ID. Yeah, I graduated HS in Idaho. But right after high school I moved to where I consider my true home to be, East Texas. When I finished at Kilgore College I was planning on going on to get my bachelors  but for some odd reason decided it was time to do something different. The year was 2002, I was 20 years old and I decided I was joining the Army.  I left for basic training in September 2002. The Army wasn't bad, I met a lot of great friends, and got to see some different places. I was stationed in Friedberg Germany, which BTW is where Elvis was stationed during his enlistment, before finishing up at Fort Hood.  I spent 2 tours, nearly 29 months in Iraq, from May '03 through June '04 and October '06 through January '08.  I was honorably discharged in April 2008 with the rank of Sergeant and an intimate understanding of how great this country is. After I got out, the very next day I  moved back to East Texas.  I enrolled at The University of Texas at Tyler and just really began getting used to and enjoying civilian life.  I graduated in May '10 with a BBA in Business Marketing. (one of those useful degrees) This brings us right up to the end of December 2010 my phone rings, and its my current GM and Amy Austin from KNUE.  Turns out they really want to get more involved in bringing in and playing Texas Music in East Texas, we met and talked on the phone a few more times after that. What it really came down to is I saw their passion for radio rivaled my passion for radio and for Texas Music.  I am glad to be with KNUE and we'll be doing our part to bring East Texas even more Texas Music, we're gonna tear this "pine curtain' down! Everyone's gonna love Texas Music by the time I'm through. So come on, everyone's invited to checkout my show Radio Texas, LIVE! All the best in Texas Music, All Saturday night.  And you never know who might drop by the studio or call in, Saturday nights on 101.5 KNUE and world wide at KNUE.com

Alrighty, by now we all know how this works. Each week we pit two brand new Texas songs against each other and let 'em duke it out for your affection. Some times the songs have a common theme, often times they don't. This week they do. It's the first All Girl RTX New Music Challenge, as Bri Bagwell goes up against Kristen Kelly.

Charlie Robison Talks Late Night Television, New Music and David Allan Coe [AUDIO]

If it weren't for guys like Charlie Robison, Pat Green, Robert Earl Keen and Cory Morrow this whole sub-genre of bad-ass music we enjoy today in Texas probably wouldn't exist. And it was an honor to welcome Charlie Robison to Radio Texas Live last week. Charlie and I hit on many topics including Party in the Dirt presented by KNUE of which he, Jason Boland, Curtis Grimes and David Allan Coe are a part of.

The RTX Sunday Video — Randy Rogers Band ‘Kiss Me in the Dark’ [VIDEO]

Randy Rogers Band has the unique distinction of being nominated twice for the ACM Vocal Group of the Year despite never having a billboard Top 40 song.  I am not one for checking facts, so I'll just assume that doesn't happen too often.  But what is unfortunately lost on 48 states is both appreciated and cherished here in Texas and in Oklahoma.

Blowin’ S#?t Up with Kevin Fowler — Episode Two [VIDEO]

The first episode of Blowin' S#?t Up with Kevin Fowler saw everyone's favorite Fowler use tannerite and his AR-15 to demolish a printer. That poor, poor printer. Click here if you missed Episode 1.

In Episode 2 of Fowler’s foray into controlled explosives, we find out what happens to a watermelon and cantaloupe when exposed to tannerite, an AR-15 and Kevin Fowler.

The Top 10 Songs in Texas — Did Josh Abbott Stay on Top Again?

The Texas Regional Radio Report's list of the biggest songs in Texas is out. Was Josh Abbott's "Touch" able to make it three weeks in a row on top? Or were Eli Young Band, JB and the Moonshine Band or Mike McClure able to take over the No. 1 spot?

I'll tell you this much: there wasn't a whole lot of movement.
