Tragedy strikes Tyler Friday as a contractor working for Oncor was killed at around 3 a.m. while performing repairs at a Tyler intersection, according to the Tyler Police Department.

Spokesman Charles Hill stated that there were other injuries with other people coming in contact with electricity that had apparently not be shut off. The repairs were as a result of a driver who struck a pole earlier this morning - as reported by KLTV - at 1:30 a.m. at East Southeast Lopp 323 and New Copeland Road.

The identity of the worker has yet to be released.

Drivers are advised to find alternate routes as traffic lights are out and all lanes of traffic are closed travelling west form the intersection.
