Four employees and one student of Fred Douglas Elementary School in Jacksonville were struck by lightning Thursday afternoon as they were walking to their cars.

Superintendent Dr. Joe Wardell said two of the employees were teachers; the others were school workers including the daughter of one of the teachers. All were transported to local hospitals where they treated and later released.

Dr. Wardell said the teachers  were standing in a water puddle and lightning may have traveled down the  umbrellas they were holding or was conducted through a car.

Wardell said the incident happened around 3:15 p.m. as school was letting out.

Lindale Bank Robber Still on the Run

The FBI and Lindale Police continue their investigation into this week’s bank robbery at Capital One on Main Street.

On Wednesday, around 2:20pm police say the suspect armed with a handgun walked into the bank and demanded money from a teller. The suspect left the bank in a small, light colored 2 door coupe driven by a white male with blonde hair. The hat might contain the logo of the Texas Glory, a girl’s select fast pitch softball team. The robber also had a towel draped around their neck.

Investigators also say the inside of the car will be covered with red  dye after a money bag released the substance.

No Injuries were reported during the hold-up.
