The practices began in the middle of August when it was one hundred degrees preparing for games with one goal in mind - the state championship title game!  A couple of East Texas teams have reached that goal and are one win away from gaining that title.  The Daingerfield Tigers and Gilmer Buckeyes are playing in their final games today at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

In Class 2A Division I, the Daingerfield Tigers face Cameron Yoe today at noon. The Tigers hold 6 championship titles already and are playing in their ninth championship game this afternoon. This isn't the first meeting between the pair in a championship game either. Back in 2010 Daingerfield won their third straight title by defeating Cameron Yoe 33-27, hopefully the Tigers can repeat that today.

In Class 3A Division II, the Gilmer Buckeyes will take the field of Cowboys Stadium at 4p and take on Navasota who has a clean record of 15-0. The Buckeyes are going for a third state title and are making their fifth appearance in a state championship game. Coincidentally, Gilmer faced Navasota in 2009 and won that game giving the Buckeyes their second championship trophy. Hopefully the outcome will be the same this afternoon.

Yesterday in Class A Division II, the Teneha Tigers were in Cowboys Stadium trying to defend their 2011 championship title against Munday and unfortunately they came up short and were defeated 42-14.

We wish the Tigers and the Buckeyes the best of luck on their games this afternoon.
