Janis Joplin's childhood home in Port Arthur is still up for sale, but this time the price is lower than it's been in years.

The Houston Chronicle notes the property's been listed for as high as $500,000 (in 2010), then reduced to $250,000 last year & now knocked back again to only $200,000.  The catch?  The house is only appraised at $52,500, which is within the neighborhood's typical range.  Clearly the current owners are hoping the historical connection to Pearl (noted in an official state marker) impresses potential buyers.  If you know someone who's a Janis Joplin "superfan" & willing to back it up with a monetary investment in a direct connection to her life, tell 'em about this deal!

Even though she's been gone for almost 47 years, Janis continues to make news!  Seen in the 1968 performance above out in front of Big Brother & The Holding Company, Joplin has been the subject of movie-rumors for more than a decade.  The latest Hollywood gossip reports Michelle Williams is in negotiations to play Janis for director Sean Durkin's big-screen version of her story.  In 2015, Amy Adams was actually halfway through filming scenes for a Joplin biopic being produced by the same company that made Dallas Buyer's Club, when legal issues shut that project down.

And on a completely different Janis Joplin note, I just found out former Dallas Cowboys' Coach Jimmy Johnson was her classmate at Port Arthur's Thomas Jefferson High School!  Think about that a little next time you see him on TV...
