Thieves may get away with stealing something once or twice, but eventually, their habit will catch up to them and they will be caught and hopefully placed behind bars and prosecuted by those they stole from. Theft seems to be on the rise all across the nation and East Texas isn't excluded from this statistic.

I honestly wish thieves would read this, but I know they will not, I'll say it anyway - when you steal something from a store, it's the rest of us who pay the price and end up paying for what you thought was rightfully yours without paying for it. Only honest people will be reading this and understand what I'm saying and for most of those who steal, they have no conscious and it doesn't bother them to walk out of a store without paying for something.

The Kilgore Police Department needs the public's assistance in identifying this theft suspect.

Kilgore Police are trying to identify the individual in gray coveralls in the following video because he is suspected of theft from Atwoods in Kilgore on September 18th.

While watching the video you can clearly see the guy has something in his shopping cart and appears to be casually looking at the Stihl power tools and rounds the corner to walk away but pauses because something else catches his attention. He didn't add anything to his cart and kept moving casually through the store.

Then a while later he is seen pushing the shopping cart that he had loaded with some merchandise right past the cashier and strolls right on out the front door without paying.

It may be difficult, but if you recognize this individual you are encouraged to call your tip into Detective Joshua Sims at the Kilgore Police Department at 903.218.6907.

Small thefts in any store add up quickly, even when you forget to ring up that single Gatorade at the self-checkout kiosk. Thankfully East Texas has been spared by the organized crime smash-n-grabs that's happening at major retailers across the nation. Events like this are causing some major retailers to completely close locations and focus on online orders.
