Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Raises $400,000 for Animals in Need in 2013

There are few people who love animals more than Miranda Lambert. Not only does she take in strays time and time again (and is even moved to tears when animals are in need), she also continually strives to raise money — lots of money — all in the name of four-legged friends.

The Oklahoma resident is deeply involved in her MuttNation Foundation, which recently has been reuniting families with pets lost in the devastating tornadoes that ravaged the Sooner state. MuttNation, which is directed by the songstress’ mom, Bev Lambert, also is committed to finding new homes for pets in need, although if Lambert had it her way, she’d probably take them all in.

“I feel so blessed to be able to continue the work of MuttNation Foundation in aiding and assisting animals in need,” says the singer in a release. “Aside from music, this is my biggest passion in life, and I find it so rewarding to help end animal suffering and homelessness.”

In 2013, the singer has raised more than $400,000 for the foundation through Cause for the Paws and various other donations, including fundraising efforts by individual groups of Ran Fans. The best part is, 2013 is only halfway over — the singer has six more months to continue the philanthropic efforts for the organization.

Lambert is doing all she can, as she recently headlined the Sixth Annual Cause for the Paws benefit concert, which raises money through ticket sales, a live auction, an eBay auction, raffle tickets, vendors donating their services and private donations. Some of the most wanted items at the auction included Mini Replica “Blake and Miranda Wedding,” an autographed George Strait cowboy hat and two tickets to his sold out show in Texas, and autographed Luke Bryan and Taylor Swift guitars.

“This year we were so proud to bring Cause for the Paws 6 to Miranda’s adopted home state of Oklahoma,” says Lambert’s mother. “Our early decision proved to be a very timely one. Just before our event date the devastating tornado hit the Oklahoma City area…the fact that we raised nearly half a million dollars is beyond belief!”

She adds, “Miranda and I promise, without reservation, that all funds from the event as well as incoming donations, will be used in the most frugal and effective ways to insure that pets across the U.S., and specifically now in Oklahoma, are rescued, sheltered, housed and adopted in a manner that aligns with our mission: to end animal suffering and homelessness on every front!”

Sounds like Lambert may not be the only ‘fastest girl in town’ when she hears about hurting animals in need — her mama seems pretty passionate about all furry friends as well. Like mother, like daughter!
