Several of the stars of Nashville turned to social media to react to the news that the beloved show will come to an end after its upcoming sixth season.

Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Jonathan Jackson, Chris Carmack and Lennon and Maisy Stella were among the actors from the show who tweeted after the news broke of the show's demise, mostly thanking their most loyal fans -- called Nashies -- for a long run.

Nashville ran from 2012-2016 on ABC before it was canceled, and an outpouring of fan support saved the show, which moved to CMT for its fifth season. Nashville kicks off its sixth and final season on Jan. 4, 2018, and Season 6 will consist of 16 episodes that will air in two parts before the final curtain falls in the summer of 2018.

Producers for the CMT fan favorite broke the news in a press release on Friday (Nov. 18).

"All of us on Nashville are so incredibly grateful to the show's fans, who convinced CMT to give us a chance to keep telling the story of these remarkable characters," Executive Producer Marshall Herskovitz says. "And we want to return the favor with a final season that celebrates all the joys and passions, twists and turns -- and amazing music! -- that made Nashville such an exciting journey for the last six years."

Nashville has revealed five new cast members for Season 6, and a trailer for the new episodes shows one of the main characters really struggling, while a sneak peek CMT released offers a look at one of the new characters. Deacon Claybourne looks like he is on the brink of moving on with a new love after the shattering death of his wife, Rayna Jaymes, in Season 5.
