When I was asked to be a part of an event called "Night of Superstars" I didn't realize what a phenomenal event it really is. The photo above is of Mitchell Smith, one of our East Texas Superstars. Mitchell is 9 years old and was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at age 2, Muscular Dystrophy at age 5, and earlier this year with Type 2 Diabetes.  But as you can see from the smile on his precious face, Mitchell doesn't let his illnesses stop him from being happy and a proud Boy Scout!

"Night of Superstars" is an “Oscar-like” red-carpet charity event that involves local celebrities, high-profile personalities, media, and hundreds of guests! The celebration is to honor the accomplishments of 15 amazing children, students and young adults who are affected by varying types of disabling conditions, yet reach far beyond their adversities and excel in areas such as academics, athletics, extracurricular activities, the arts, and community service.

The more I learned about this national event, the more I knew that I wanted to be involved. My participation as the "red carpet" interviewer is such an honor! The kids will walk the red carpet, give autographs, take pictures and just be treated like the superstars they are.

I will be joined by Buddy Logan, Luck Larry & Mandee Montana from my sister station Mix 93-1 and so many more.

The "Night of SuperStars" is this Saturday, Nov. 16 at The Cascades Country Club in Tyler. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for cocktail hour and silent auction.

The superstars will walk the red carpet at 7 p.m. The evening will include dinner, musical performances by Taylor Heard and W.T. Greer, and an awards ceremony for the superstars, then cocktails and dancing with Big Daddy Band performing.
