Two days ago the Facebook page Del Rio Community Spotlight highlighted a potential Texas record catch out of Lake Amistad.

A lot of the comments have said that this is not a true goldfish as this fish pictured does appear to have barbels. Fish that DO have Barbels, according to Wikipedia, include catfish, carp, goatfish, hagfish, sturgeon, the zebra fish and some species of shark.

This beast was weighed in at 13.6 pounds, so if it IS a goldfish, it would be a state record as the current record sits at 5.63 pounds, captured November 27 in 2016 in Denton, TX. But Texas Parks and Wildlife has yet to update the record, so we're just going to have to wait on the official ruling.

We'll keep you posted on what's made official, but I thought this was still a pretty great catch as we gear up for fishing season.
