April 26, 2012 Sometimes all you have time for is a quick getaway. Luckily for us Texans, there are several interesting attractions and destinations within a short drive of major Texas metro areas such as Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. In researching, I found some interesting places that I have never been, I'm gonna make my plans now!
April 24, 2012 It looks like there will be another place for families to hang out this summer. According to the Longview News Journal, crews have started working on a 10,000 sq. foot splash park in Longview. The addition will be at Lear Park, with sprinklers, fountains, and many more fun things.
There’s no question Tyler is a great place to live. I’ve spent most of my life here and I still enjoy all the walking the Azalea District and going to Rose Stadium every Friday each fall. I reflect fondly on childhood memories of fishing in Lake Tyler and riding in the Beauty and the Beast Bicycle Tour.
Still, I can’t help but think I’ve earned the right to gripe about the city I’ve always called home. There are few things about the Rose Capital I think we all would like to change, such as:

April 16, 2012 "All Aboard" train enthusiasts! Trains are so magical and mysterious. The whistle of a train always sounds so sad and lonely. One of my best childhood friend's father is a huge Locomotive buff. I would always look forward to staying the weekend with my girlfriend so I could see all the hundreds of train displays.
April 9, 2012 It's spring and the kids are getting antsy to get out of school! Well, this Saturday take the kids to the Broadway Square Mall from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. for "The Smith County Kids Fest."
Kids all over East Texas will be hunting Easter eggs next weekend, before the big day though they can get practice at the twilight Easter egg hunt thanks to the Tyler Parks and Recreation Department. The hunt is coming up Thursday evening at Lindsey Park in Tyler where there will be more than 30,000 eggs delivered by the Easter bunny!

March 27, 2012 East Texas is getting ready for the East Texas Optimism Walk 2012 for Parkinson's on April 28 in Tyler at Rose Rudman Recreational Trail. The walk raises money for education, research and support services for those affected with Parkinson's disease.
March 20, 2012 It's time fishermen and women for the 23rd annual Longview Ambucs Team Fishing Tournament at Big Cypress Marina on Lake O' The Pines. The tournament is Saturday, March 31 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Who doesn't love the thrill of catching a "big ole hog," right?
TEXARKANA -- A wintery mix is making travel slow today for motorist on Interstate 30 between Dallas and Texarkana. The Department of Public Safety says some ice has formed on bridges and overpasses in Bowie County and several spots along the interstate. The Tyler-Longview areas will just see rain; no wintery mix is expected in the immediate area.
LAKE PALESTINE -- Divers are resuming their search today for a missing pilot of a small plane that went down in Lake Palestine on Wednesday night. Searchers discovered the plane yesterday in about 17 feet of water, the door hatch had been opened and the seat belt undone, according to State Troopers. The plane flew out of Jacksonville before it plunged into the lake. The pilot is believed to be the only occupant of the aircraft.
