Our first real taste of winter is barreling it's way to East Texas right now! We're in for a big change tomorrow and the upcoming weekend as high temperatures are only going to be in the upper 40's, a big change from the upper 70's of this afternoon
Fall officially arrived in East Texas a couple of weeks ago but it hasn't felt that way here lately as we've been experiencing temperatures in the low 90's, however, that's about to change thanks to an approaching cold front
Forecasting the weather can be difficult because no one can accurately predict what is going to happen only Mother Nature has control over the weather. Still though these dedicated professionals do the best job they can and with the advancement in forecasting technology they are becoming more and more accurate it seems.
Spring severe weather season is upon us and this afternoon East Texas could be looking at a line of severe thunderstorms that'll move through bringing with it high winds, large hail and the possibility of tornadoes.
It appears as if East Texas isn't getting spared when it comes to the wintry mix. Rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow are expected this afternoon through this evening and will most definitely be causing problems tomorrow morning. Some school districts are making decisions now to either delay the start of classes on Wednesday or cancel them all together in addition to affecting athletic plans Tuesday evening.
Many East Texans thought they were going to wake up to a winter wonderland thanks to freezing rain that was expected overnight, but that didn't happen. The morning went on as normal with the exception of a few school districts that opted for a late start this morning. Will we be as lucky this afternoon?
It appears as if Punxsutawney Phil's prediction is coming true from Groundhog Day, East Texas is once again experiencing cold weather and with that winter precipitation too and threatening to delay or cancel classes on Tuesday.
