The McDonald’s McRib — Will You Be Running Out to Get One? [POLL]
It is that time of year again. I am not talking about Christmas gifts, snowmen, New Years, and family. It it the return of McDonald’s McRib sandwich. The question is, are you ready for it? For some, the McRib has become a tradition for their family. Every year that it returns to the McDonald’s menu they will run out and grab one before it leaves again. In Germany, the sandwich is a permanent staple to their menus. But, what is behind all of this love for a simple sandwich?
The McRib is meant to be similar to eating a sandwich with ribs. Two pieces of bread, a slab of boneless ribs slathered in BBQ sauce, onions, and pickles are behind all of this craze. What is really made out of though?
According to the Chicago Magazine and Michael Durden, it was found that; “McDonald’s claims the McRib is composed primarily of shoulder meat. Turns out, the truth is much less appetizing. Chicago Magazine broke the story that the McRib ingredients actually consist of restructured meat products like heart, tripe and scalded stomach.”Also, some of the other ingredients it takes to make the McRib the McRib we know and love are the same that make yoga mats and shoes.
Sounds so disgusting. But, people are still out their in the drive-thrus waiting to get handed their McDonald’s bag full of fake rib goodness.
No matter the ingredients, McDonald’s claims there are 101 reasons to love the McRib. Not all of them were developed by rocket scientists, but some make a good point. With the low cost, most believe all 101 of the reasons to rush out and pay a couple of bucks from the sweet and salty treat.
