Preacher and author John Piper, best known as the leader of DesiringGod and author of many best-selling Christian books, has met criticism of Internet-sized proportions after a post on Twitter yesterday.

Following the aftermath of the Moore, Okla., tornado that killed at least 24 on Monday — children among them — Piper posted this on Twitter:

I’m all for First Amendment rights, free speech among them. But I’m a greater fan of compassion and love for those who are hurting.
