Two days and four visits later,  my daughter finally got her driving permit. Now this may not sound like news, but baby, this is a miracle! Most of us have had to go to the DPS office at one time or another, right? I don't want to hate on the DPS, but having to go is not really one of my favorite things.

For what it's worth, here's what I have learned about the DPS office in Tyler.

1 - Be prepared. Call and go on-line to make sure that you have everything you need, to be successful. But be warned, this may not be enough. We found that you can get wrong information, the information you need isn't  available. Just be prepared to have to make, at least, another trip. Trust me!

2 - Get there early before they open for business. If you think you can go anytime of the day and be "in & out," you are sadly mistaken. Get there at least 15 minutes before they open the door, and get in line.

3 - Keep your cool. This could save you from being frustrated, or worse, an ulcer.

4 - Feel lucky if you only have to back two or three times. Seriously, that's a win in my book.

Hopefully these tips are helpful. In the mean time, watch out for Chloe, she'll be on the roads soon East Texas!
