With what seems like a nonstop stream of violence happening over the last two months, more and more police departments across the country are trying to help citizens be ready for such a terrifying situation.

Police Departments in Texas have been announcing preparedness classes as of late, after the worst mass shooting in Texas history occurred on Sunday, November 5, 2017.

The Tyler Police Department will be offering a free Civilian Response to an Active Shooter Event class on Saturday, November 18 from 9 am to Noon. The class will be held at the South Police Station and spaces are limited to only 50 participants 13 years and older.

Comments on their Events Page are showing that people are appreciating the help and one person made a suggestion that Tyler ISD should do the same for students from elementary to high school.
