Do the Houston Astros Have a Good Luck Charm in Aaron Watson?
Might the Houston Astros have a good luck charm in Aaron Watson? Simple answer: yes.
Last night, appearing in the MLB Playoffs for the first time since 2005, the Houston Astros handily defeated the Yankees of New York. The 3-0 win for the 'Stros was brought to you by solo home runs from Colby Rasmus and Carlos Gomez, and great pitching from Houston starting pitcher, Dallas Keuchel, who didn't give up a run and only allowed three hits over six innings collecting seven strikeouts along the way.
But that was all predicated by this Facebook post from Aaron Watson, who was merely attempting to explain away doubters of his love for both the Rangers and Astros. Could this be the reason why the Astros won last night?
I believe Crash Davis in Bull Durham said it best when he said, "If you believe you're playing well because you're getting laid, or because you're not getting laid, or because you wear women's underwear, then you ARE! And you should know that!"
So, yes. Using Crash's logic as the barometer the Watson throwback pic very well could be the reason the Astros won.
With the win the Astros advance to an American League Division Series with the Kansas City Royals.
Today the National League Wild Card game will be in Pittsburgh, as the Pirates take on the Chicago Cubs. The other AL Division Series will see the Toronto Blue Jays at home against Watson's other favored team, the Texas Rangers.
It should be noted that Watson posted this just two days before the lucky throwback pic. If the teams advance any further, Honky Tonk Kid, you're gonna have to pick a side.
