We were all so excited when earlier this year it was announced that East Texan Kacey Musgraves would be going on an 18-city tour with seven-time Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter John Mayer. In fact, she was to be the exclusive opener on his Spring 2012 Tour. However, Mayer was forced to "take an indefinite hiatus from live performing due to the return of the granuloma in his throat."

So what did Musgraves do? Well, she didn't slow down.

It's obvious Mayer is not the only one taking notice of our "Nashville Star." Despite the tour being canceled, Musgraves, who has cuts on both Martina McBride's and Miranda Lambert's new albums -- the latter "Mama's Broke Heart" was named one of Rolling Stones "Top 50 Singles of 2011" -- has been busy producing her own debut album.

She made her Ryman Auditorium debut, which was responded to by a standing ovation. And now to add to her list of accolades she has been named to MSN Music's Class of 2012: New Artists to Watch. Check out that list! She's in some very impressive and diverse company.

Congrats to Kacey! Be on the look out for her debut album due out some time this year (hopefully sooner than later). In the meantime, check out the video for her song "Merry Go Round," a song you can hear each week on Radio Texas Live and that will be included on the forth-coming album.
