Despite 22 No. 1 hits and dozens of accolades, Kenny Chesney is preparing to embark on what could be his most successful journey yet: the Brothers of the Sun tour with Tim McGraw. Propelling his journey forward will be his 13th studio album, ‘Welcome to the Fishbowl,’ which hits stores on June 19.

Of course, it’s hard to imagine how a country megastar like Chesney could still release award-winning albums after so many years at the top. Doesn’t he get tired of being on top of his game? Apparently not.

The ‘Feel Like a Rock Star’ hitmaker told Billboard that creatively he has “never felt more comfortable in [his] own skin.”

One reason that Chesney is so popular — and why his Brothers of the Sun tour is anticipated to be one of the top-selling tours in history — is that he focuses on how songs will sound live. While most country artists focus on which songs will become radio hits, Chesney keeps his focus on the performance aspect of each single.

“Making a song is a wonderful, creative time, but for me it can be a very stressful time,” Chesney says. “If you don’t get it right in the studio, you’re not going to get it right on the radio and out on the road. When I’m in the studio, I imagine myself being in the grass at an amphitheater. ‘What’s going to turn me on? What’s going to make me care?’”

According to Sony Music Nashville Chairman Gary Overton, it sounds like Chesney has done a great job of getting ‘Welcome to the Fishbowl’ right in the studio.

“On many of the songs, Kenny pushed himself to dig deeper into the emotions of personal relationships — both successful and failed — more than he ever has before,” Overton says. “You can feel it in his voice.”

Although Chesney is digging deep into his emotional side, fans can look forward to ‘Welcome to the Fishbowl’ sounding sun-kissed and beach-inspired like many of Chesney’s No. 1 hits. Be sure to check out the album when it hits stores on June 19.
