An Old West shoot out recreating a bank robbery that took place in the 1800's in Longview is the big draw during Dalton Days!

May 23, 1894 was the day that Bill Dalton and three of his gang members rode into Longview and robbed the First National Bank. During the shootout between the gang members, law enforcement and residents, more than two hundred shots were fired leaving three people were dead, including one of the gang members. This robbery marks one of the Old West's biggest shootouts.

This historical day in Longview's history has been recreated each year since 1994 during Dalton Days, presented by the Gregg County Historical Museum. There are a variety of events for the entire family during Dalton Days, including, a petting zoo, games, craft vendors, face painting, a chuck wagon cooking demonstration, a blacksmith and food vendors including a saloon with root beer from the Oil Horse Brewery.

Dalton Days takes place Saturday, April 7th in downtown Longview along Fredonia Street and will feature four reenactments of the Dalton Gang Bank Robbery. The event is free to attend and will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Reenactments are scheduled to take place at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. At 12 noon, there will be a quick draw demonstration by the reenactors of the bank robbery.

Before the shootouts begin though, the Dalton Days Dalton Dash will take place on the streets of downtown.  Registration is now open for the 5K and Kids Fun Run.
