Dogs bring so much love and companionship to our lives. They're always there to greet us when we come home from work or a trip to the store. When they see us it's like it's the first time they're meeting us, their tail is quickly wagging and they're usually barking and jumping with excitement for us to pet them.

Meet Rosie. Rosie is now living in the Humane Society's Pets Fur People shelter in Tyler, Texas because the extremely familiar face she grew up with is no longer here. Her owner passed away and now she's living in the shelter just waiting for a new family to adopt her.

Rosie is a mixed breed dog nearly 12 years old and weighs about 40 pounds. As you can imagine, it's a bit traumatic for her to be in this setting because all she knew was now gone. Pets Fur People's executive director Gayle Helms believes Rosie will be best in quiet calm surroundings. She is currently shy and timid and will need to get familiar with her surroundings and then she'll open up.

During the month of August, Rosie's adoption fee has been reduced from $175 to $40 during the month of August.

Rosie will go home with a starter kit of food, a big fluffy dog bed, a collar and leash and a certificate for half-price basic obedience training from Tyler Obedience Training Club.

For additional information on adopting Rosie call 903.597.2471 or check the Humane Society’s Pets Fur People website. Pets Fur People requires a completed adoption application before arranging a meet and greet. Check out the animals that are available for adoption. Adoption hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 am until 5 pm - closed for lunch 1-2 pm. The Humane Society’s Pets Fur People is the only brick-and-mortar no-kill shelter in East Texas. Pets Fur People offers routine vaccinations, except for rabies, to the public for dogs and cats. Follow Pets Fur People on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Please be a responsible pet owner - spay or neuter your pets. Donations are appreciated.
