It was last Monday when we first heard about Playboy featuring three of our favorite bands in their, then, upcoming April issue. And it was true. Whiskey Myers, The Dirty River Boys, and Turnpike Troubadours have been christened "The New Bad Boys of Country" by the infamous magazine.

How great is this? Big time, national exposure through an entirely different medium -- I mean anyone can make Rolling Stone -- this is PLAYBOY taking notice of our under appreciated, super talented scene.

I don't know who hipped Playboy to these guys, but give that person a raise, they earned it.

According to the article:

“Work felt unsatisfying, so I said fuck it,” says Cannon about the birth of Whiskey Myers seven years ago. The band members moved to Tyler, Texas, a town of fewer than 100,000 people, and quit their day jobs. “We went to the big city to chase our dreams,” says guitarist Cody Tate, laughing. Adds Cannon, “It was seven people in a Suburban, towing a shitty trailer with holes in the roof.”

And I must note, Whiskey Myers just wrapped opening Lynyrd Skynyrd's Canadian tour this week. Oh, and if you haven't heard how Whiskey Myers got their name, click here.
