If you are into hiking you better be real careful this summer. 3 hikers died this past week alone during and after their respective hikes.

Mother Nature ain't playing this year, record high temperatures are affecting everyone in some fashion.

If you're a hiker, you need to be well aware of what you're getting into if you decide to climb a mountain or wander the forest in these insane temperatures.

According to Texas Monthly:

On June 21, a 17-year-old boy was rescued from the Lighthouse Trail in Palo Duro Canyon State Park and later died at the hospital; two other members of the group survived.

Two days later and four hundred miles to the southwest, on Friday, a 31-year-old man and his 14-year-old stepson died in Big Bend National Park after hiking on the Marufo Vega Trail, in the scorching Chihuahuan Desert

3 in one week, wow. If you are into hiking ... or mountain biking, motorcycling, off-roading, walking to the mailbox - hell, sitting by the pool can be too much these days ... be careful.

Honestly, don't go outside at all unless you have to.

If you do, or just really need to climb Mt. Franklin, do it early in the morning.

Take a bunch of water too along with some friends, a support vehicle as far as possible, plenty of water and sunscreen, etc.

Next, be sure someone knows where you are going if you have to be outdoors and when to expect you back. Read more safety tips here.

Water, water, water, water, water, water ... and more water. If you can't carry twice the amount of water normally recommended for your chosen activity, then don't go.

The water, water, more water thing goes for everyone but especially those who have to be out due to work or transportation issues.

Sitting at a bus stop or riding in an "open" vehicle ... jeep, motorcycle, bicycle, convertible, etc ... can hurt you too if you're not careful and watch the alcohol.
