Peanut Butter + Syrup Festivals Highlight Weekend Happenings in East Texas
We're all looking forward to the weekend and if you don't have any plans yet, you might consider heading to Grand Saline, Henderson or Tyler some big festivals and events this weekend.
Saturday, Grand Saline will be celebrating with the 3rd annual Peanut Butter Festival! November is National Peanut Butter Lover's month and they'll be celebrating during this one-of-a-kind event with food, games, music, amusement rides all while attempting to break the world record for the largest peanut butter cookie!
In addition, there will be a peanut butter and jelly sandwich eating contest, the Peanut Butter Festival queen will be announced Saturday night at 6p at Grand Saline High School and more. The event opens at 10a and runs through 5p in downtown Grand Saline on Main and Frank St.
The annual Heritage Syrup Festival is scheduled for Saturday too in Henderson from 9a to 5p. It's a folk life festival where you can see how old fashioned cane syrup is produced at the Depot Museum. Other activities at the festival include a petting zoo for the kids, demonstrations on rope making, blacksmithing, wood carving and more along with food and music too.
You can catch a hay ride shuttle to the event site that spread over 6 blocks of Heritage Square in Henderson.
In Tyler you can support the Junior League of Tyler by shopping Mistleteaux and Magic at Harvey Convention Center. This 4 day event runs Wednesday the 7th thru Saturday the 10th. It's a holiday market with vendors from around East Texas and beyond that offer up holiday decorating ideas, antiques, clothing, jewelry, housewares and more. Proceeds from the show benefit the Junior League of Tyler who supports more than 41 different East Texas agencies.
